Engineering Lead, Sales Education Platform

New York, NY

About Us

Sell It is a membership, courses, and coaching platform built to make sales skills the most valued skills in the new economy. We exist to help people achieve greater professional success, make more money, and thrive in a new, changing economy.

50% of college graduates will work in sales at some point in their career, and nearly 90% of jobs require sales skills. By 2027, half of the US economy will be engaged in gig or freelancer work, and all self-employed solopreneurs must master selling to achieve commercial success.

And yet, there are few formal sales training programs available through the formal not-for-profit education system or through for-profit platforms.

We’re on a rapid growth trajectory, enrolling over 30,000 members in 128 countries (and counting) over the past four years.

We’re a startup now ramping our product and technology investments. Our tech stack is early stage, and you will be actively involved in development (i.e. hands-on coding) while managing offshore and additional development resources as needed.

Your mission will be to take our technology platforms to the next level, owning the subscription and payment platform; technical integrations between the ecommerce engine and our LMS; and the technical and data architecture within our tech stack.

We are an entrepreneurial, scrappy, energetic, self-motivated team of go-getters. We believe in taking charge and not waiting to take action. We approach problem-solving with creativity, and we believe the work we do should be fun and rewarding. We are here to support each other’s journey, plights, goals, and ambitions, and we place a high value on empathetic curiosity.

What you’ll do:

· Work with our Head of Product and leadership team to execute technology strategy and engineering build, integrating third party platforms, developing custom data pipelines between systems, and ensuring the stability and optimization of our ecommerce/subscription management system

· Own timely technical delivery of product roadmap, including customer-facing products as well as back-end ecommerce/business data systems, technical debt, and system integrations

· Ensure scalable, repeatable systems architecture

· Own responsibility for our ecommerce system’s performance / uptime / functionality

· Develop data and product environment that enables rigorous testing

· Ensure compliance with data security regulations

· Complete additional responsibilities as assigned

What you’ll be great at:

· 5-7+ years engineering experience, ideally in a subscription / membership / recurring revenue model

· Integrating third party platforms and managing existing integrations and APIs

· Data architecture and database best practices

· Active involvement in full stack website development and DevOps best practices (using WordPress and APIs at minimum)

· Managing remote development teams

· Project/program management

· Ecommerce and subscription management

· Ability to communicate with a multi-disciplinary team and across multiple levels of technical understanding

· Desire to elevate the role that quality technology can play in a fast-paced and growing environment

What would be great for you to have, but isn’t a deal breaker if you don’t:

· Experience designing / implementing database systems

· Prior experience in another business discipline before becoming an engineer (we believe the best engineering decisions come through a commercial lens)

· A passion for building your own thought leadership

How you’ll be compensated:

The compensation range for this role is $150,000 per year - $180,000 per year, depending on your experience and skillset.

In addition, we offer…

  • Health/Dental/Vision
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Continuing education stipend
  • 401(k) match
