Shelbi grew up in Golden and still lives close by, in Lakewood, with her family. She met her husband in high school and they have been inseparable since, together 15 years and married for more than 10. They have two young kids, a toddler boy and an infant girl.
The last 2 years have asked a lot of her. The same month she found out she was pregnant with her daughter, her mother in law, who she was very close to, was diagnosed with cancer. Shelbi cared for her through the entire pregnancy. Her mother in law passed away less than 24 hours after Shelbi's daughter was born, while the baby was still in the NICU.
Two weeks to the day after that, Shelbi walked into a closing and celebrated her clients, a family who had just locked in a VA loan at 2.5%. She made the day theirs. Nobody in that room had to carry her week with her. That is the most honest thing anyone can tell you about how she works.
Before real estate, Shelbi spent years in oil and gas accounting, systems, supply chain, and project management, then ran her own consulting firm. That work taught her to think on her feet, run a budget, manage people, and handle a crisis before breakfast. She came to real estate because she wanted to be a resource to people in the hardest moments of their lives. She calls herself the quiet in the storm, and her clients describe her the same way.
That steadiness is what built her niche. In 2023, a client was selling a townhome and had barely enough cash for a 20% down payment, facing a 7.98% rate. The home they wanted carried an FHA loan at 2.625%. Shelbi had never done a loan assumption. Almost no one had, and it was not something she could look up. So she called the lender every single day, spent hours on the phone with title, and closed it in 45 days, while the loan was in the middle of being sold to a new servicer. Her clients needed about $45,000 less at the table and saved roughly $1,300 a month. They still live there and still love it.
She has closed 11 assumptions since, with 2 more under contract, alongside nearly $26 million and 47 closings since 2022. Very few agents in Colorado have done this work as many times as she has.
Shelbi serves buyers and sellers across the Denver metro, mostly west of I-25 and in Aurora, with clients from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs. She does her finest work with first time buyers, move up families, VA buyers, and anyone considering an assumption.
She will also tell you when the answer is no. After months of showings, she once told clients the market was not right for them. They terminated and she lost the commission. A year and a half later she circled back, and 2 showings in, they bought the home they actually wanted.
100% of her business comes from referrals and repeat clients. The words they use most are peace of mind.
Outside of work, Shelbi is with her family. Libraries, the zoo, museums, parks, and traveling together. She loves that Colorado has real seasons, and that her family and her husband's are all here.
