Marked by Victorian townhouses and brownstones, Bedford-Stuyvesant is a large residential neighborhood in central Brooklyn. It is wonderfully diverse and vibrant, and while it has seen an influx of new residents that include European and Caribbean-American immigrants, it remains a cultural touchstone for the African-American community.
The Life
Bedford-Stuyvesant is famous for its block parties and street festivals in the summer, but residents seeking crowds and activity can always find it on Malcolm X and Marcus Garvey Boulevards as well as Bedford, Nostrand, and Tompkins Avenues. The neighborhood has a wide range of casual dining, nightlife, and lounge options, and Herbert Von King Park, Hattie Carthan Community Garden, and Kosciuszko Pool are all iconic gathering places where locals mingle, play, and relax.
